Veterans Transitioning from Military to Civilian Flying
Colorado Heli-Ops’ Piston Transition and Flight Instructor courses can be very helpful in the transition into the civilian helicopter industry.
If you are separating from the military with flight experience less than 1000 hours of PIC time, these courses can provide the training and experience you need to get a flying job.
Piston helicopter transition courses are available for the Robinson R22, Robinson R44, and Schweitzer 300C. The R22 and R44 courses are designed to help pilots earn a PIC endorsement in those aircraft, opening up many job opportunities.
Pilots interested in earning experience as a Flight Instructor can enroll in our approved Flight Instructor course. Once a flight instructor, you can build flight and PIC experience that can help you get established in the helicopter industry.
Job Placement and Career Path
Aviation Futures, a non-profit partner organization of Colorado Heli-Ops, has established a career path program to help pilots progress in the helicopter industry. Commercial operators in Air Ambulance, Air Tours, Fire/Utility, and Agriculture have all partnered in the program to provide guaranteed interviews and priority hiring to selected graduates of Colorado Heli-Ops’ courses. Whether you are a pilot transitioning from the military or starting flight training from scratch, these job opportunities ensure security for your future in flight.
